The French rugby coach Fabien Galthié is going to renew his contract until 2027, the vice-president of the French Rugby Federation (FFR), Serge Simon, entrusted to AFP this Sunday, the day after his country's title in the Six Nations Tournament.
“It's closed. It will be renovated until 2027. The constitution of his coaching staff will be defined by and with him,” Simon said in an interview with AFP.
“For reasons of clarity, coherence, simplicity, evidence, tranquility... it was important to renew it,” added number 2 of the FFR.
Galthié, initially with a contract until 2023, will therefore extend four years after leading France to its first title in the Six Nations since 2010. He has also done so with Grand Slam (full of victories).
He came to the bench of his national team after the Japan-2019 World Cup, where France fell in the quarterfinals.
Galthié had been a three-time Six Nations champion during his time as a player (1997, 1998, 2002). Now he also adds success as a coach.
