The winners of Miss Peru La Pre have received harsh criticism on social media for allegedly being favored as 'daughters of famous'. One of those affected is Gaela Barraza, who on more than one occasion has come out to defend herself, pointing out that she struggled to win the crown.
Because she is still a minor, her parents have come out to defend her. The first to speak out was Tomate Barraza. The radio host asked not to mess with his daughter and pointed out that if anyone wanted to do it, they should tell him first.
Former model Danuska Zapata also came out to defend the minor, despite the fact that she has been away from television in recent years. In an interview with the newspaper El Popular, she said that she supports her daughter 100%, but that as a mother she knew that this would happen at some point.
She also revealed that last year Gaela Barraza also participated in Miss Peru La Pre; however, because she felt that she was not ready yet, she decided to remove her from the contest.
“I, as a mother, knew this was coming, so I didn't want my daughter to participate. She participated in the casting last year, but I decided not to continue because I saw that she was not ready, she lacked it. And this year, at her insistence, I had to support her,” he said.
Despite her daughter's decision, Danuska Zapata pointed out that she cannot turn her back on Gaela at this difficult time, so she has recommended that she face the bad comments with her head held high because she knows that she earned that crown fairly.
“That's not why we're going to truncate his dreams. As a mother, it is my duty to support her always by advising her on a good path. I've told her now that she has to face this with her head held high, it's not a sin to be the daughter of..., but, well, that's what she got,” he added.
DANUSKA ZAPATA ASSURES THAT HER DAUGHTER WILL COVER MOUTHS
After taking the crown, Gaela Barraza will have to travel to El Salvador in the coming weeks to represent Peru in a beauty pageant. Therefore, her mother Danuska Zapata thinks that her daughter will surprise and leave the name of our country high.
“The ball is in his court. It has to show what it is made of and what it really is worth, and leave the name of Peru aloud, which is the most important thing. He's going to cover many people's mouths and that's on Gaela's court, and of course with all the advice and recommendations of his parents. And people who criticize, they have to have a little respect because they are minors,” he said.
“Gaela is going to play a good role and that will be part of her life experience. This will help you mature and see the reality of life. I, from deep inside my heart, wish my daughter the best and that God takes care of her for me,” he said.
