Through its Twitter account, the United Nations Human Rights Office (UN Human Rights) ruled on the recent ruling of the Constitutional Court Peruvian. He reinstated the pardon to former President Alberto Fujimori. In this way, the UN expressed its rejection of the ruling and noted that it violates the rights of the victims of Fujimori's crimes.
The initial UN message was written in English, but was translated by the official United Nations account in Peru. This one says:
It is recalled that on March 17, the TC voted in favor of habeas corpus, which sought to rescind the Supreme Court ruling, which annulled the pardon given to Alberto Fujimori in 2017. This fact has caused indignation at the national and international levels, since the former president was convicted of crimes against humanity.

On 18 March, members of the non-governmental human rights organization Human Rights Watch criticized the ruling, considering that the presidential grace given to the former president could be part of a fraud.
“I am not opposed to humanitarian pardons for the seriously ill, including those convicted of crimes against humanity. But the benefit cannot be based on fraud. The Inter-American Court of Human Rights must intervene again and verify whether the release is justified and whether its ruling was respected,” José Miguel Vivanco, director of the the Americas of Human Rights Watch.
That same day, the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) expressed concern about this decision, through a statement on its Twitter account. The IACHR noted that this decision impeded compliance with the obligations of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (Inter-American Court of Human Rights).
“IACHR expresses deep concern over the decision of the Constitutional Court ordering the release of Alberto Fujimori. It affects the victims' right to justice and hinders compliance with international obligations of the Inter-American Court in the Cantuta and Barrios Altos cases,” he said in a tweet.
The international organization also shared an image that read:
“Crimes against humanity become a concern of the international community, constituting a grave offense to human dignity and a flagrant denial of the fundamental principles enshrined in the American Convention on Human Rights, so they must not go unpunished ”.
Similarly, the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (Inter-American Court of Human Rights) notified Peru that it has a deadline for submitting its observations on the ruling of the Constitutional Court (TC) in favor of the release of former President Alberto Fujimori.
In this sense, the Peruvian State has, at most, until March 25, to report on “the provisional measures and immediately inform the Constitutional Court”.
“This occurs in the context of the Barrios Altos and La Cantuta cases, after the victims' families and representatives presented provisional measures in the face of the possible release of the former president in the coming days, who is convicted of serious human rights violations,” the rest of the message reads.
This means that the IACHR admits to the request of victims of Barrios Altos and La Cantuta to be processed and requires the Peruvian State to comply with reporting on the TC ruling that has granted the convicted Fujimori Fujimori freedom.
