Israeli police announced on Saturday that they shot and “neutralized” a Palestinian who had stabbed a passerby in Jerusalem.
“Police from the Jerusalem district fired to neutralize the suspect,” police said in a statement.
The attacker is a Palestinian in his 20s and was evacuated “in serious condition”, according to Israeli emergency services spokesman Zaki Heller.
Emergency services Magen David Adom stated that the stabbed victim was an Israeli in his 30s, who was slightly injured.
An AFP journalist saw the police recover the attacker's bloody clothes.
The events took place in West Jerusalem, near the junction with the eastern sector of the city.
Jerusalem is the scene of frequent clashes.
In early March, Israeli police said they killed an attacker who had stabbed two officers in Jerusalem's Old City.
More than 300,000 Palestinians and 210,000 Israelis currently live in East Jerusalem, the Palestinian part of the city, occupied by Israel in 1967 and later annexed.
Israeli colonization, illegal under international law, has persisted under all Israeli governments since 1967.
