The Ministry of Health of the Nation reported this Saturday, 19, that in the last 24 hours, 44 deaths from coronavirus and 1,697 new infections were recorded. With today's data, the total number of cases in the country since the beginning of the pandemic is now 9,006,526, while deaths total 127,483.
An alarm was triggered yesterday due to a sharp increase in cases. After more than 20 days with less than 10,000 infected daily, 14,416 infections were reported Friday, a figure that had not been reached since February 22, when 16,950 had been reported.
Shortly after the epidemiological report was issued, the authorities of the health portfolio explained this leap: they said that yesterday about 9,500 confirmed cases reported by a private establishment in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires entered the National Health Surveillance System (SNVS), corresponding to dates prior to the months of January and February.
“These are cases that have as their place of residence CABA and the province of Buenos Aires (about 3000 and 6500 respectively),” they expanded in a statement. And they clarified again: “Because cases are reported on the basis of information entered between yesterday's and today's outage in the system, the number of cases increased for this reason, but they do not correspond to cases of the day but to a delayed load of an effector.”
The Ministry also highlighted that Argentina recorded for the eighth consecutive week a sharp decline in the number of infections, since last week it showed a 98.24 percent drop compared to the peak of the pandemic, in January with more than 800,000 infected.
As for deaths according to vaccination status, in epidemiological week 8 there were 3.2 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants reported in people who were not vaccinated. This percentage drops to 1.0 deaths in those who have a single dose of vaccine or with a second dose applied in less than 120 days.
Meanwhile, the figure drops to 0.5 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants in those who are fully vaccinated (those who have three doses applied or the second dose applied in more than 120 days).
In the country, 80 percent of the population is vaccinated with a complete scheme. According to official data, Argentina distributed 108,562,544 vaccines to date, of which 103,497,544 were sent throughout the country and 5,083,000 were donated to other countries. Applications total 95,686,407. Thus, 40,554,610 people started their scheme and 36,800,664 completed it, while 3,027,597 people received additional doses and 15,303,536 booster doses.
