Since March 13, when the congressional elections and consultations to elect presidential candidates took place, social media has been flooded with complaints of alleged electoral fraud.
Because of this situation, citizens and different personalities on the political scene have asked the appropriate authorities to count votes.
Recently, the mayor of Medellín, Daniel Quintero, assured that it is necessary to review each of the votes last Sunday, especially those made for the Historical Pact and Citizen Force.
For their part, Juan Manuel Galán and the Nuevo Liberalismo party made the same request, in order to prevent the alleged electoral fraud from taking place.
“From @NvLiberalismo we call on @UEenColombia and @AmericanaOea @OEA_oficial to make a permanent presence in the counting. His observation work is vital to the Colombian citizens' confidence in the electoral process,” Galán wrote on his Twitter account.
On its side, the party requested that this review they request be carried out under the supervision of an international oversight.
“The New Liberalism requires a general review and recount of all votes, this in the presence of a legal committee headed by party representatives and with international oversight”, reads the message issued by the political party.
On the other hand, Senator Iván Marulanda, of the Green Alliance party, said he asked his party to take a stand on Sunday's possible electoral fraud. Likewise, he assured that it is necessary to follow up on all the complaints that have arisen, because if they do not give a response, citizens could go to the streets again in the form of a protest.
For his part, Antonio Sanguino, reported that they will file a guardianship to pause the counting and recount the votes.
“My votes only appear in one group of newsletters. Here is a very serious situation that requires a recount of votes (...) my votes appear between 1 and 36, of the rest only 200 votes appear, that is impossible, inexplicable,” said the senator of the Green Alliance party in an interview with La W.
Faced with the wave of complaints mainly from sectors that support the Historical Pact, Miguel Uribe Turbay, from the Democratic Center, assured that they want to “steal democracy”.
Through his Twitter account, the politician questioned that votes that had not been counted are appearing, but in a very different sense than those who report alleged electoral fraud.
“What is the explanation for the gap between counting votes and counting? More than 500,000 votes appear from one day to the next. Very serious. It had never happened. We cannot allow democracy to be robbed from us,” Uribe Turbay wrote on his Twitter account.
To this question, one netizen replied: “I think we must begin to doubt the many votes of Miguel Uribe. That nervousness shows it: he owes it. He also doesn't know how to differentiate between pre-counting and scrutiny. Let there be a total count of votes, suddenly that is the fear: that we realize the size of the FRAUD.”
