The project “ETIS: Strengthened Communities, Solidarity Territories” is part of the Unified Social Territorial Strategy of the Secretariat of Social Integration of Bogotá. The project consists of 35 territorial processes, 10 social innovation initiatives and 7 networks of community management and risk management that come together to strengthen communities and respond to social and poverty issues.
Since November last year, the project has educated more than 365 people on issues addressing the feminization of poverty, defeminization of employment and cultural opportunities for young people, redistribution of care at home, risk management and economic recovery and reactivation of the territory emergency medical care due to COVID-19.
As part of the strengthening process, the Mayor's Office of Bogotá has funded 45 community groups with support of 8 million in-kind to implement action plans aimed at community, art development and food security. The enhanced process includes community gardens, organizations that provide academic support and preparation for ICFES to young people, cultural and artistic organizations, and community restaurants.
The methodology of the program for the technical strengthening of territorial processes and social innovation initiatives envisaged three fundamental pillars: 1) capacity building, 2) creation of action plans and 3) accompaniment to action plans. The first pillar was proposed to allow an understanding of public concepts and policies and the identification of challenges and solutions to territorial problems, the second to integrate the action plan of territorial processes and social innovation initiatives, and the third to accompany the SDI for the actual strengthening of the procurement of processes or initiatives. participants who have adopted the plan. When it was not face-to-face, the process was worked through a platform called Q10. Virtuality in this era is a real necessity and that is how the SDIS and its operators understand it.Face-to-face and virtual sessions have been established to present concepts, practical applications, and understanding activities to encourage discussion and ideas about initiatives in the community.
The project also played an important role in creating seven risk management and management networks in the villages of Bosa, Suva, Ciudad Bolivar, Rafael Uribe Uribe, Usme, Kennedy and San Cristobal.These networks will receive protection and identification elements and the possibility of training on community mapping for risk mitigation and family planning for disaster preparedness.
As the name suggests, the ETIS project believes in strengthening community capacity for sustainable development in the territory.For this reason, the program bets on the integration of resilient, supportive and competent territories by empowering communities and social projects.
On March 18, the end of the technical training of the participants will be held through an Entrepreneurship Fair where groups and projects can be seen, and an experience forum where they can learn about learning and mobilization of the seven therapeutic and risk management networks in Bogotá. The event will take place at 1 pm in the Palacio de los Deportes, and will be an important milestone in the pilot project of the Secretariat of Social Integration.
