On March 15, complaints about workplace harassment against several women in Bogotá were reported on social networks and in the media. The security camera video recorded one of the moments in which José Ferni Milan (JM Salud y Belleza), owner of the company JM Salud y Belleza, verbally attacked his collaborators.
This audiovisual material is shared on Instagram to see and hear insults and attacks of the subject against women who work for the company.
“José Ferni Milan (JM Salud y Belleza Colombia), owner of JM Salud y Belleza Colombia, who directs Tele Amiga, Redmas TV, Canal Uno, and Cable Nauticias channels, shows an explicit violent behavior that dehumanly violates the rights of women hired to work in the company; vulnerability to conquer, abuse and harass them,” says the complaint posted on the network.
In the video mentioned above, there was evidence of the moment when a man yelled at a woman working with and threatened to extend his working hours until late at night.
Likewise, at some point, the owner of JM Salud y Belleza can also be seen suddenly approaching one of the workers and assaulting him verbally.
Then it is seen when she grabs something that looks like a glass of water and throws it on the floor, causing fear in the workers, yelling at the same woman who assaulted her before, and starts cleaning up the mess with the objects she threw. At that moment, the woman gets up from her post and in the video it is clear that she is crying.
After the response of public opinion on March 16, the businessman decided to respond through a statement, apologizing for what happened here and making it clear that the video is from 2020.
He also added: “With this document, I give a public apology and ask for forgiveness from all of you, but above all, the affected Karen Yesenia Poveda Porras, for all kinds of complaints that my wrong actions may have caused her”.
Ferney Millan said in a statement that he went to a psychologist due to violence in 2020 and was diagnosed with mental problems and, according to him, would explain the abuse that caused women at work.
Finally, he made it clear that the company currently has 17 employees who thought they were “like family members” and offered to apologize as much as necessary, and that their behavior has changed since then, thanks to psychotherapy.
