The Department of Social Prosperity (DPS) is the agency of the Colombian National Government, which seeks to establish policies, plans, programs and projects for the assistance, care and reparation of victims of violence, social inclusion, care for vulnerable individuals and groups, and their social and economic reintegration.
The cycle of payments for Solidarity Income for March and April has already started this month. Around 4 million Colombians will receive $380,000 for both periods, that is, $190,000 each, bearing in mind that it is delivered on a bi-monthly basis and whose purpose is to mitigate the impacts of the COVID-19 emergency on that population.
Solidarity Income was initially designed to operate for three months, but thanks to the Social Investment Law approved by Congress and approved by President Iván Duque Márquez, the department runs the program longer. With this Law on Social Investment, the coverage of the program increases, from 3 million to 4 million 85 thousand beneficiary households, from these two months onwards.
The program prioritizes households registered in extreme poverty in Sisbén IV (Group A). This targeting allows at least 30% of the incumbents who enter to be women. Thus, 64.13 per cent of households already receiving the cash transfer are represented by women heads of households.
To see if you are a beneficiary of the program, you must register on the program page. Here's how to do it:
If you benefit, if you have a savings account with a financial institution in Colombia, your money will be entered there and the bank will notify you. But for those who do not have an account with a bank, they will receive a text message informing them that they are beneficiaries of the program and will receive instructions to open a digital wallet from their cell phone.
Other subsidies that are collected from March 14 to 30 in addition to Solidarity Income are: Families in Action, Youth in Action and Guaranteed Minimum Income.
