Manchester United coach Ralf Rangnick lamented the 1-0 defeat against Atletico Madrid this Tuesday in the round of 16 of the Champions League, assuring that they could not “break the Atlético wall”.
Rangnick recalled that Atlético's defensive strength pointing out that “it's not so easy to break that wall. I think we didn't have the physique to break that wall of Atlético.”
The German coach of Manchester United complained about the continuous interruptions of the match and regretted the goal conceded, which his team did not seem to know how to assimilate.
“We had a very good first half. The only thing we couldn't achieve was to transform that energy into a goal,” Rangnick said.
“And if you don't do this (mark) it's very important that you don't fit in. It is very important to score the first goal, especially against a team like Atlético,” he said.
“In the second half I don't know if more than two minutes were played without interruptions and there were curious decisions by the referee,” added the United coach.
“For us the second half was frustrating. We tried everything, we had two or three times at set pieces, but at stake we didn't generate much”, he said.
