The repair of the retaining wall of the Circunvalar in Bogotá began, affected by the dump truck accident

Starting today and until the end of March, the eastern and western lanes of Circunvalar Avenue will be closed with Calle 85, according to the Institute of Urban Development (IDU), work will begin to repair and install the railing on the retaining wall affected by the vehicle accident on March 2.

The works will be carried out between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m., for which the following lanes approved in the Transit Management Plan (PMT) of the District Mobility Secretariat will be closed during this time:

· Western lane of the eastern causeway

· Eastern lane of the western causeway

Similarly, the IDU recommends that residents and people passing through the sector take into account the signage and recommendations of staff on site.

After the work of relief to people who were affected by the overturning of a dump truck loaded with sand on Circunvalar Avenue on 84th Street, northeast of Bogotá, the Emergency and Emergency Regulatory Center reported that the incident left six people injured and two dead, one of them died on the spot and the another one this morning.

The Ministry of Health reported that the injured of the incident were transferred to the Clínica del Country. A 68-year-old woman who suffered bilateral wrist trauma and whiplash syndrome; a 23-year-old girl with left hip trauma; a 20-year-old man with right shoulder trauma and another 62-year-old woman with trauma to one hand.

One of those affected was a 46-year-old man who had moderate head trauma, wound in the parietal region, trauma to the chest and unstable pelvis; a 42-year-old woman was admitted to the clinic with chest and abdominal wall contusion; and another 67-year-old man suffered mild head trauma and hip trauma.

The incident occurred shortly before the traffic light on the 84th that connects race 1, Circunvalar, with the Seventh race. At that height, the eastern lane that leads from south to north is elevated. The dump truck would have lost control, crashed several vehicles, broke the containment rail and fell on the opposite lane, on top of some vehicles, including a taxi in which the driver died.

The fatal victim of the accident was Luis Alberto Clavijo who suffered severe head trauma and died at the scene of the accident. According to Semana magazine, he was 48 years old and worked 14 hours a day to pay for taxi responsibilities.

Colonel Edgar Montaña, commander of the Bogotá Metropolitan Police, informed W Radio that another person died in the early morning of March 3, due to injuries he suffered after the accident. He is one of the three passengers in the taxi.

Shortly before the accident, which occurred around 6:35 at night, Luis Clavijo had picked up three passengers. He used to arrive at the house located in La Calera, near where death found him, at seven o'clock in the evening to have dinner with the family. He called his wife to tell her that he was doing the last race and ending the shift, but she proved to be the only fatal victim of the incident on the night of this March 2 in Bogotá.
