
On March 15, at the morning conference, the Secretary of Health, Jorge Alcocer Varela, highlighted the Mexican government's intentions to continue building a universal, free, equitable and quality national health system “with an emphasis on the most vulnerable and marginalized sectors of the population.” He highlighted the management of the Covid-19 pandemic as one of the greatest government efforts made to follow that line.
For her part, Zoé Robledo Aburto, Director General of the Mexican Social Security Institute, summarized the transformations that the Health System has had for people without social security, over time since 1979.
The general objective of the project, on presidential commission, is to federalize health services in the IMSS Bienestar model.
This is by concentrating the resources provided to the states and carrying out a local assessment of infrastructure to determine coverage and investments with the aim of measuring the number of beneficiaries, as well as strengthening the IMSS Welfare Care Model in four areas: infrastructure, health personnel, medicines and materials for healing and regularization of personnel.
