Teqball was showcased at the United Soccer Coaches Convention in Kansas City, with two-time Olympic champion and two-time FIFA Women’s World Cup winner Carli Lloyd leading a demonstration of the sport in front of 7,000 delegates.
The event is one of the world’s largest football-related conventions, gathering coaches and other professionals to experience and discuss new innovations and ideas. The teqball demonstration not only highlighted teqball’s benefits to professional football players from a training perspective, but also how it is growing rapidly across the US as a sport in its own right.
Lloyd, who is widely recognised as one of the greatest women’s football’s players of all time, joined some of the country’s leading teqball stars for a showcase event in the dedicated teqball zone of the convention centre. The support of leading stars from football, as well as from other sports and the entertainment industry, is helping FITEQ capture the imagination of young athletes and fans around the world. The rapid global growth of teqball and para teqball was evidenced in last week’s BCW International Federations Social Media Ranking, where teqball was ranked the 7th most followed sport, and 2nd most followed non-Olympic sport.
US Teqball Federation President Ajay Nwosu was in attendance at the United Soccer Coaches Convention to explain the history, accessibility, and future of teqball in the US, including sport’s dream of becoming an Olympic sport. The successful promotional event in Kansas City came shortly after the opening event of the USA Teqball Tour in San Diego last month, where France’s Hugo Rabeux and Julien Grondin claimed gold in the men’s doubles, and the Hungarian duo of Zsannett Janicsek and Zsofia Anna Blazsovics-Petri triumphed win over the American team of Kareli Rodriguez and Mia Valente in the final of the women’s doubles.
