(ATR)The Association of National Olympic Committees opens its 20th General Assembly on Oct. 29 in Washington D.C.
More than 1,200 Olympic leaders will be in D.C. for the meeting.
IOC president Thomas Bach, ANOC president Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah, and IOC executive board member Gunilla Lindberg are among the roster of Olympic leaders in D.C. for the event.
A team from Around the Rings will be in D.C. to cover the event. ATR is also hosting a reception on Oct. 27 with the help of the local organizing committee for the assembly.
The 2015 ANOC general assembly wraps up on Oct. 30.
Gymnastics Championships Doubles as Olympic Qualifier
The 2015 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships are underway in Glasgow.
The championships started on Oct. 23.The event marks the first of two opportunities for gymnasts to advance to Rio 2016. The top eight teams will qualify for the Olympics.
Additionally, any individual event medalists who are not on a qualifying team for the Olympics or Olympic test event will book a ticket to Rio.
The second opportunity for teams to qualify for the Rio Games is the Olympic test event, where four more teams will earn berths at the Olympics.
Competition at the 2015 worlds ends on Nov. 1.
Paralympic Athletics World Championships
The International Paralympic Committee is staging this year's Para-athletics World Championships in Doha.
The championships will be one of the last major competitions ahead of the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.Some 1,300 athletes from 90 countries and will compete at the Suhaim Bin Hamam stadium in the Qatari capital.
Competition ends on Oct. 31.
Paris 2024 Leaving French NOC Headquarters
Paris 2024 is moving its headquarters to Boulevard Haussmann.The street is mostly lined with shops, apartment blocks and restaurants.
The move, reported by AFP, will take place during the week and takes Paris 2024 out of the French National Olympic Committee's headquarters.
Budapest, Hamburg, Los Angeles and Rome are the other cities bidding to host the 2024 Games.
IOC Deadline for Kuwait
Kuwaiti government officials and NOC leaders must resolve dispute over the country's sports laws by Oct. 27.
The IOC is concerned about government meddling in the running of the Kuwaiti NOC and national federations following the approval of amendments to the Middle East country's sports legislation.The amendments, approved this summer, are due to come into effect on Oct. 27.
Earlier this month, the IOC established a working group in a bid to "resolve the issues clearly identified during the meeting with a view to making them fully compatible with the principles and rules of the Olympic Charter and the statutes of the international federations."
Play the Game 2015
The 2015 edition of Play the Game is in progress in Aarhus, Denmark.
Leaders of Play the Game describe their initiative as an international conference aimed at "strengthening sport's ethical foundation and promote democracy, transparency and freedom of expression in sport."
This year's conference ends on Oct. 29.
