(ATR) China is ready to move into its next phase of Winter Olympic delivery.
A year and a half after Beijing and Zhangjiakou were selected by the IOC to host the 2022 Winter Games, local authorities in Zhangjiakou say they will be finished with venue planning by the end of the year.
Authorities in the northern Chinese province of Hebei have drafted a master plan including competition venues, transportation and cultural industry and are now ready to begin venue construction in the beginning of the new year.
"In 2017, Hebei will spare no efforts in the construction of venues, basic infrastructure construction and winter sports popularization, in order to lay a solid foundation for a successful Winter Olympics," said Hebei Olympic official Li Pu.
A high speed rail to connect Zhangjiakou and Beijing is also in the works to be ready by the 2022 Games.
The Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics will be the third consecutive Games staged in Asia following PyeongChang 2018 and Tokyo 2020. Organizers of each of the Games recently convened in Tokyo to learn from the Rio 2016 organizers and stakeholders at the IOC transfer of knowledge session.
The Beijing 2022 Games will be staged from Feb. 4-20.
