Thomas Bach met with King Harald V of Norway on Monday.
The visit took place ahead of the Lillehammer 2016 Youth Olympic Games Coordination Commission meeting. Bach’s visit to Lillehammer will complete his circuit of upcoming Olympic host cities.
According to an IOC statement, Bach and King Harald "spoke at length" about the Youth Olympic Games, Norway at the Sochi Olympics, and Olympic Agenda 2020.
"We discussed the Lillehammer Youth Olympic Games, which will use only pre-existing venues, and the legacy these Games will bring to the region and the country," Bach said in a statement.
"We also discussed the Culture and Education Programme, which is an integral part of the Games and helps to develop the Olympic values in all the participants."
Bach also visited the Norwegian Olympic Committee’s high-performance center and met athletes training for the Olympics and Youth Olympics.
On Tuesday, Bach will visit Lillehammer organizers.
