(WFI)Worawi Makudi, the controversial Thai FA chief linked to allegations of corruption involving former FIFA presidential candidate Mohamed Bin Hammam, has been banned from all footballing activity for 90 days.
The adjudicatory arm of FIFA’s ethics committee, chaired by Hans-Joachim Eckert, announced the suspension on Monday. It is effective immediately.
The ethics panel said the decision was "on the grounds that a breach of the Code of Ethics appears to have been committed and a decision on the main issue may not be taken early enough".
"This decision against Worawi Makudi followed a request from the chairman of the investigatory chamber of the independent Ethics Committee, Dr Cornel Borbély. The case is now the subject of formal investigation proceedings," the statement said.
Makudi was a FIFA ExCo member from 1997 until April this year when he failed to win re-election to the governing body's top table.
He is the fifth current or former FIFA official to be banned by the ethics committee over the past seven days.
