Kirill Yashenkov, Presidential candidate in the forthcoming Rugby Europe elections, is determined to introduce a world class online and offline education programme to raise the level of the sport across the whole of Europe.
Equipping unions with a comprehensive, world class, online and offline educational programme and unified database, free of charge, is a core pillar of Yashenkov’s vision for a more efficient and effective Rugby Europe. Based on sharing best practice, each union will have access to a programme of expert knowledge and training methods designed to improve the level of performance of players, coaches, referees and managers throughout Europe.
If elected, Yashenkov will introduce a powerful electronic database of highly detailed statistics to improve the level of competitions in both continental and national tournaments. The introduction of a best-in-class statistics database will also support player development by providing greater access to analytics and performance data for managers, coaches and backroom staff.
Kirill Yashenkov, Vice President of the Rugby Union of Russia, said:
"We should celebrate the excellent rugby being played at all levels by many nations in Europe but we need to nuture the Europe rugby family at all levels. The introduction of a free, world class education programme for all unions will raise the quality of rugby throughout Europe from grassroots to the elite level. A collaborative platform of expert knowledge and training resources would go a long way to developing our sport in the small nations.
"In addition, all 48 nations having access to a unified and centralised platform of statistics and data will lead the way in athlete development, coaching processes and overall progression of both continental and national competitions. European rugby deserves an open, trustworthy and efficient body to support its future growth. I love rugby and I want to support the growth of my sport. As a man of my word it is something that, if elected, would be my honour to introduce."
The vote for President of Rugby Europe will take place at the organisation’s annual congress on 4 December 2020 which will be held in a virtual format.
