Lausanne, March 24, 2020 – World Bowling is delighted to announce the appointment of former Paralympian and
World Champion athlete Mark E. Shepherd, Sr. as Chairman of World ParaBowling.
With Mark’s vast experience in Paralympic sport activity from his time with the US Olympic Committee, his
knowledge into the formation of International Wheelchair Bowling Federation and from his time as a member of
the American Wheelchair Bowling Association, where he was inducted into the AWBA’s Hall of Fame in 2018, he
will bring with him expertise that will translate across the whole of World Bowling.
World Bowling President, Sheikh Talal Mohammed Al-Sabah commented: "Since World Bowling received official
recognition by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) for ParaBowling we have been trying to find the right
candidate to lead ParaBowling for us. Mark opened our 2019 Congress in Las Vegas and his passion and commitment
has continued since that day. So, I am delighted that Mark has accepted this important role"
Following the announcement of the QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup and inaugural ParaBowling World Cup, Mark
will get straight to work connecting with all member federations in preparation for the newly devised portfolio of
events.
Mark Shepherd commented: "I am delighted to become part of the great team at World Bowling. I look forward to
heading up the ParaBowling effort and working with the IPC and the member federations of World Bowling, to make
ParaBowling an integral part of our sport. I will remain committed to this effort."
