
(ATR) Five years out from the Games, Olympic organizers are close to completing the top-tier sponsorship program after signing their ninth domestic partner.
While there are no fixed number of gold partners – tier one – targeted, ATR understands that Games chiefs may only be seeking to fill two or three more categories. More than 12 would appear to diminish the exclusivity of thesponsorships.
On Wednesday, Nomura came on board as the latest sponsor in a wave of deals announced in the past three months. It fills the securities category.
Tokyo 2020 now seems firmly on target to rake in more than $1.3 billion from domestic sponsors.

SportAccord Partner
The SportAccord Convention World Sport & Business Summit will be produced by the same agency that prepares Olympic ceremonies.
Filmaster will serve as a silver partner for the convention, becoming the sixth silver partner for the event.
The SportAccord Convention World Sport & Business Summit will take place on Apr. 19-24 at the Sochi ExpoCenter.
"This is going to be a big year for us, since we are involved in several sport and institutional events around the world and we will work at the production of Rio 2016 Olympic Ceremonies and Torch relay," Antonio Albete, CEO of Filmmaster Events, said in a statement.
"We are really proud to be here for SportAccord Convention and would not miss this important event in the sport industry."
Generations for Peace
Samsung has extended its regional partnership with Generations For Peace.
Samsung provides support and technology to GFP to help their youth programs in Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Palestine.
The TOP Sponsor began its affiliation with the NGO in 2008, and works with GFP as part of Samsung's"Hope for Children" program.
"As our longest-serving partner, Samsung’s support is a wonderful example of an Olympic TOP Partner supporting our work at a regional level," Feisal Al Hussein, IOC Member and the Founder of Generations For Peace, said in a statement.
"In communities and schools, we are using sport to transform conflict and empower children, youth, and teachers. We are also using Samsung’s technology to benefit our programs."
BWF World Championships partner with Xiamen Airlines
Xiamen Airlines will offer airline ticket packages for the upcoming Badminton World Championships.
The Chinese airline signed an agreement with the Badminton World Federation on Mar. 26 in China according to a BWF release.
The airline also announced plans to create free badminton souvenirs to include in the special ticket packages. In addition Xiamen will be the official airline of the 2015 world championship.
The 2015 championship for badminton will take place in Jakarta, Indonesia, from August 10-16.
New Baku 2015 Supplier
Nestle will supply confectionary treats to Baku 2015.
Nestlé Azerbaijan joins Azersun Holding, Bazarstore, McDonald’s Azerbaijan, Milla, Motorola Solutions, NAZ, Sitecore and Tickethour as the nine official suppliers of the inaugural European Games according to a report from Azeri news agency APA.
The company will provide coffee, confectionary snacks, and cereal bars to spectators at all European Games venues.
