British Rowing is very happy to announce that Mizuno has extended their official sportswear partnership for a further year. The extended partnership will see Mizuno supply performance wear to the GB Rowing Team and British Rowing staff through the rearranged Olympic and Paralympic Games next summer.
Andy Parkinson, British Rowing Chief Executive Officer, said, "Mizuno has revolutionised our sportswear provision since the start of our partnership in 2017. We are delighted that they have chosen to extend their partnership to the end of 2021, ensuring our international athletes can prepare for the Games in confidence and with access to the best possible sportswear."
Since the beginning of the partnership, British Rowing and Mizuno have worked together to develop world leading rowing performance wear. Rob Henderson, Head of UK Sport at Mizuno commented on the collaboration, "Mizuno has a history of delivering innovation and combining this with British Rowing’s expertise has allowed us to deliver the ultimate in rowing performancewear."
With the team set to compete in hot climates next year, including the World Championships in Asia, Mizuno has been working with the GB Rowing Team to refine the technical wear to help them perform to their peak potential. Paralympic and World Champion James Fox MBE is impressed with what he’s seen, "Every year we’ve seen the Mizuno rowing kit get better and better, it’s extremely comfortable and gives us the confidence to deliver on the water."
The rowing performance wear is now also available to the rowing community with clubs able to purchase their kit from Mizuno making use of the same innovations and technology as those used by the GB Rowing Team. Henderson was pleased to see this opportunity for grassroots rowing, "Our Team Apparel reps are ready and waiting for clubs who require new kit now that there are encouraging signs of the return to sport. We’ve had a really good uptake so far and the clubs have found the process simple to manage and their members have enjoyed the new club kit."
British Rowing members can also show their support of the Team with the Mizuno Replica and "Inspired By" ranges available for purchase through the British Rowing Shop and events.
