The International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) is saddened to announce — in accordance with the IFSC Asian Council and the Chinese Mountaineering Association (CMA) — that the 2020 IFSC Asian Championships have been cancelled. The competition was due to take place in Xiamen (CHN) from December 10 to 13.
The decision was made due to travel restrictions currently in place in a number of Asian countries as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The two Olympic quotas that were supposed to be awarded at the championships will be reallocated according to the Qualification System.
The remaining four slots will be decided at the two final continental championships, which are expected to take place as scheduled: the IFSC African Championships in Cape Town (RSA) from December 17 to 20 and the IFSC Oceania Championships in Sydney (AUS) from December 19 to 20. Both championships will be streamed live on YouTube.
