The popularity of fitness and bodybuilding in this part of the world is emphasized by the growing number of participants and events in Central America and the Caribbean. IFBB is recognized by over 22 national Olympic committees in the Americas, and has been a medal sport in the Central American Games since 1994.
The whole American continent has been supportive of the grass roots efforts of the IFBB that have resulted in the recognition by the Pan American Sports Organization and a majority of its member NOCs."
