The International Canoe Federation (ICF) has appointed Lausanne-based, global niche-sports specialist Broadreach Media to distribute its global rights for TV and new media.
The ICF is the world governing body for canoeing and each season produces over 25 hours of HD content from around 10 ICF events in the two Olympic canoe disciplines of sprint and slalom.
Broadreach Media was established in Hong Kong in 2010 and in 2012 opened its office in Lausanne. The agency works with a variety of federations and rights holders, including cricket, football, squash, sport climbing, archery and mixed-martial arts.
ICF Secretary General, Simon Toulson, commented, "The ICF has continued to strengthen its TV and media presence over the last five years. We see partnering with Broadreach Media as the next step in our strategic development to increase the exposure of canoeing within exciting new territories and to continue to grow our TV audience across the globe."
Steven Morris, Director of Broadreach Media Europe, commented, "We are thrilled to be working with ICF as their events are fast paced, engaging for the viewer and are produced to a very high standard for television and digital platforms. We fully expect to add further broadcast deals over the coming months to significantly boost canoeing's global exposure in the run up to the 2016 Olympics."
The first ICF broadcasted event of the season will be the 2015 ICF Canoe Sprint World Cup, Montemore-o-Velho, Portugal, which starts on Saturday 16 May.
