The full board of the International Canoe Federation has voted to postpone its next congress meeting, scheduled to be held in Thailand, until October next year, due to the ongoing Covid19 crisis.
The board expressed hope that by delaying the meeting until after the Tokyo Olympics most international delegates will be able to attend the congress in person.
The congress had initially been set down for November this year in the Philippines, but was postponed to April because of the pandemic.
On Saturday the board discussed whether to go ahead with the congress in April, with the likelihood the meeting would be held virtually, or postpone to October. The board agreed to the latter, with the meeting to be held in Pattaya, Thailand, in the second half of the month.
A final decision on the exact dates in October will be made next month.
