(ATR)Anthony Scanlon told Around the Rings that he’s pleased with the progress made on the Olympic golf course in Rio de Janeiro.
"We’re just about completed about sixty percent of the grassing, and we should have it all done by the end of October, beginning of November," Scanlon said.
"This gives us two growing seasons for the Games, and if we continue like that, we’ll have a fantastic venue."
Scanlon also mentioned that the IGF’s focus is the maintenance and preparation of the golf course ahead of the test events and, ultimately, the 2016 Olympic Games.
"For us, the focus is really on the completion of construction and getting the people there to really now groom the grass and get it to the standard that’s required for competition," he added.
When asked about the supposed crisis that the golf course was facing months ago, Scanlon told ATR that the course was "a masterpiece in the making."
"There’s no doubt the people that know better than me are excited about what type of course we can have," Scanlon said.
"We’ve just got to continue the course of getting the construction of the grassing completed and get the best people and the best equipment to maintain it."
Golf is set to make its Olympic debut at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
