(ATR) On a sunny and clear day in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, some of the best beach volleyball duos in the world competed for the biggest prize purse in FIVB World Tour history.
In total, $250,000 were up for grabs for both the men's and women's teams with $100,000 going to the winners of the tournament.
The men's gold medal match and the women's bronze medal match each featured the 2015 world champions competing against other Olympic caliber teams.
It was the world champions from Brazil taking home the gold medals on the men's side, defeating the team from the United States. The women's world champions from Brazil would win the bronze medal at this event while another Brazilian team won gold. Brazil finished in first and third in both the men's and women's tournaments.
The final matches could serve as previews to the Olympic tournament coming up next August at the Rio 2016 Summer Games.
