FIBA’s long-standing partner Molten has presented today the official game ball which will be used during the Final of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019, this coming Sunday in Beijing. As a first for the FIBA Basketball World Cup, the ball is produced in a limited edition of 500 units – each individually numbered – to be distributed amongst selected retail partners in Japan and China.
Earlier in March this year FIBA and Molten revealed the Molten BG5000, a next generation basketball that made its debut on the biggest stage, at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 in China, on August 31.
The World Cup Final game ball, based on the "BG5000 FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Official Game Ball", will have a "FINAL" logo and an image of the Naismith trophy engraved on it. In addition, four of the 12 panels will have a matte gold glitter finish that gently reflects the lighting, depending on the viewing angle. The limited 500 balls for sale will also be engraved with a serial number and will include a unique custom made box and a serial number plate. These will be available for sale in Japan and China, starting from Saturday, September 14.
Andreas Zagklis, FIBA Secretary General, said "For the first time ever in FIBA World Cup history we are proud to reveal this exclusive Final game ball. This unique ball has been designed and developed to reflect the importance of this occasion and 500 fortunate basketball fans will have the opportunity to be part of history by having one of these exclusive basketballs. I would like to thank Molten for their work on this and the beautiful design. We have been working alongside Molten for 35 years now and greatly appreciate the strong partnership we have with them."
Kiyofumi Tamiaki, President and CEO of Molten Corporation, said "It is our great pleasure to provide this uniquely designed basketball that will be used only at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Final. This exclusive design has been applied to our newly developed FIBA official game ball - the "BG5000", in which we aimed to have the tradition of basketball and technological innovation coexist together. We are looking forward to seeing both the players and fans enjoying the look and the performance of this Final game ball in Beijing."
This FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 official Final game ball will light up center stage to determine who will be crowned the best in the world on September 15, 2019. Details about the World Cup Final game ball are available here.
