The International Tennis Federation (ITF) and Kosmos Tennis have announced that the draw for the Davis Cup by Rakuten Qualifiers 2020 will take place at La Caja Magica in Madrid at 12:00 local time (11:00 GMT) on Sunday 24 November. The Davis Cup final will begin just a few hours later at 16:00 local time (15:00 GMT).
The draw will be livestreamed on the Davis Cup website, Davis Cup Facebook and Davis Cup Twitter.
The Qualifiers next year will be played in 12 cities around the world on 6-7 March 2020. The 2020 World Group I and World Group II Play-offs will also take place on 6-7 March, making a total of 36 Davis Cup ties played in 36 cities on those dates.
Twenty-six teams will be eligible to compete in the Qualifiers next year - the 14 teams finishing in 5th-18th place at this week’s Davis Cup by Rakuten Madrid Finals 2019 plus the 12 teams that won the 2019 Group I ties in September.
Two wild cards for the Davis Cup by Rakuten Finals 2020 will be selected by the from these 26 nations, with the remaining 24 nations contesting the Qualifiers next year. Wild cards are selected by a steering committee consisting of two ITF representatives, one representative of Kosmos Tennis, and one former player.
The wild cards for the Finals next year will be announced prior to the draw and the two wild card nations will join the four semi-finalists from 2019 in next year's Finals on 23-29 November 2020.
The 2019 Davis Cup by Rakuten Madrid Finals on 18-24 November will provide a thrilling conclusion to this year’s Davis Cup season with the top 18 teams battling it out to be crowned world champions. Tickets are available on the Davis Cup Finals website.
