The Bydgoszcz 2020 World Para Athletics European Championships, which was scheduled to take place from 2 to 7 June in Poland, has been postponed.
In light of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, the Local Organising Committee (LOC) and World Para Athletics have been in regular communication to evaluate the situation based on the information provided by Polish authorities and the World Health Organisation (WHO).
Following a meeting on Wednesday (25 March), the Bydgoszcz 2020 LOC and World Para Athletics have agreed on the postponement of the European Championships to safeguard the health of the athletes and all those involved in the competition.
Both organisations expressed the desire to maintain the European Championships on the 2020 calendar, but will continue to monitor the situation and work together with stakeholders to identify a mutually appropriate alternative date.
Bydgoszcz will host the seventh edition of the European Championships. Around 600 athletes are set to compete at the Zdzislaw Krzyszkowiak Stadium.
