The International Tennis Federation (ITF) confirmed the four venues in which the group stage of the Davis Cup Finals will be played, with the novelty that for the first time it will be played in China.
Zhuzhai will replace Split and will be one of the cities that will host the Davis Cup, from September 10 to 15, while the other three will repeat compared to 2023: Valencia (Spain), Bologna (Italy), Manchester (England).
“It’s not an illusion,” said the American David Haggerty, president of the ITF, regarding the election of Zhuzhai and explained that “it fits to help the flow of players to the Asian tour after the United States Open.”
Haggerty also said that “the three repeat hosts have a successful track record in organizing major competitions” and added: “The four cities will provide the perfect setting for a more intense and exciting competition, where the best players in the world will proudly represent their nations. We have a lot to look forward to when it comes.”
The participating teams will be those from Italy (current Davis Cup champion), Australia (finalist), Great Britain, Spain, Canada, Belgium, France, Czech Republic, Brazil, Slovakia, Germany, Finland, the Netherlands, the United States, Argentina and Chile. Novak Djokovic will not be with Serbia.
The Unipol Arena in Bologna, the San Luis Fountain Pavilion in Valencia, the AO Arena in Manchester and the Hengqin International Tennis Center in Zhuhai will host the Davis Cup group stage. The draw will take place on March 19 and the first two of each group will advance to the finals, again in Malaga, from November 19 to 24.
