After the four pre-Olympic games, women’s basketball already has its 12 selected teams qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

France had its place guaranteed as the organizing country, the United States had secured its place as world champion in Sydney 2022 and the other 10 tickets to Paris were defined in the tournaments held in Xi’an (China), Antwerp (Belgium), Belém (Brazil) and Sopron (Hungary).

The 16 selected were divided into four groups of four teams and the first three qualified for the Olympic Games with the exception of those that made up France and the United States, which only awarded two places because these two countries were already in Paris 2024.

In the Xi’an Olympic Qualifying Championship, France took first place by winning all three of its games and the qualifiers were China and Puerto Rico, while New Zealand was eliminated after falling in its three appearances. In the game that ended up being key in the area, the Puerto Ricans beat the Oceanic women 69-67.

The United States dominated the Antwerp Olympic Qualifying Championship, which ranked Belgium and Nigeria after finishing in second and third place, respectively. The African women got into the Games thanks to a 72-65 win against Senegal, which was eliminated after losing in all three of its games.

In Belém, Australia won the tournament with its three victories against Germany (second), Serbia (third) and Brazil, which ended up being eliminated. Meanwhile, the other host that was left out was Hungary, because Japan, Spain and Canada qualified in Sopron.
