Switzerland have continued their curling domination after taking their third consecutive gold medal at the World Women’s Curling Championship in Prince George, Canada over the weekend.
They defeated South Korea 7-6 in a hard-fought final. The silver medal achieved by Team South Korea is their best ever showing in a World Championship.
“It’s amazing. I cannot get tired of being called world champion,” said Switzerland skip Silvana Tirinzoni. “I’m so proud of the team. I don’t have any words. After the Olympics and the nationals, I thought we’d be a little tired, but they performed amazing, and I didn’t expect that.

It’s the third straight year Switzerland took the top spot on the podium and it’s the fifth world title for teammates Alina Paetz and Carole Howald. Switzerland lost the bronze medal game to Sweden at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics.
Paetz provided the winning margin after she played a double take-out with her final stone, which scored the single point needed for gold.
“To win three world championships is just great, and to do three in a row is fantastic.”
Canada, cheered on by the home crowd, beat Sweden 8-7 in the bronze medal match.
