Dmitry Chernyshenko says the marketing program for Sochi 2014 has been "very successful" even though several sponsorship categories remain unfilled with 50 days to the Games.

The CEO of Sochi 2014 said two more sponsors in the logistics and concert management categories are expected to sign agreements before the end of the year. The Sochi 2014 says four partner categories remain open.

"The Organizing Committee attracted investments worth about $1.3 billion," Chernyshenko said, adding that is three times more than the obligation listed in the bid book.

Fourteen companies in all joined the Sochi 2014 team in 2013 as Olympic partners and 9 companies, including seven TOP Sponsors, are Sochi 2014 Paralympic partners.

Lithuanian President Skipping Sochi, Blasts Russia

The president of Lithuania said she is skipping the Sochi Olympics as a sign of protest against Russia’s policies.

Dalia Grybauskaitė was quoted by reporters on Thursday saying, "Amid the current situation where I see human rights violations, as well as an attitude towards and treatment of eastern partners, including Lithuania, and the economic sanctions that have been applied against Lithuania, I do not see a political possibility of going to the Sochi Games."

Other heads of state have announced they will skip the Games but have not expressly said why.

Sochi Coverage to Dwarf Previous NBC Winter Efforts

NBCUniversal calls its level of coverage for the upcoming Sochi Winter Games "unprecedented."

Between broadcast and digital outlets, the American television giant will make over 1,500 hours of coverage available, a total greater than that of the previous two Winter Olympics combined.

The company's television networks, including NBC, NBC Sports Network, CNBC, MSNBC, and USA Network, will carry 539 hours of coverage.

Additionally, another 1,000 hours of live streaming will be accessible through NBCOlympics.com.

NBC says in a release that its minimum of 1,539 hours for Sochi is more than was devoted to Vancouver (835 hours) and Torino (419) combined.

Over the 18 days of the Games, NBCUniversal will average 85 hours per day. By contract, in 1976, ABC’s total coverage of the entire Innsbruck Winter Games in 1976 was 43.5 hours.

This will be NBC’s 14th Olympic Games, most of any U.S. media company.

Coverage begins on Thursday, February 6, one night before the Opening Ceremony, and runs through the Closing Ceremony on Sunday, February 23.
