The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) is today publishing the first of the UCI Women’s Teams for the 2016road season. Only UCI Women’s Teams which have submitted a complete file are published today.
The team ranking is taking into account the individual UCI points of the top four best riders for each team,as well as the UCI points won at the 2015 Road World Championships team time trial.
On the basis of this ranking, the best teams will automatically be invited to participate in the major eventson the calendar.
With regards to the UCI Women’s WorldTour, the new international series for professional women cyclists,which succeeds the UCI Women Road World Cup, the organiser must send an invitation to:
- the top 20 UCI Women's Teams for one-day races
- the top 15 UCI Women’s Teams for stage races.
Moreover, the top five nations of the 2015 UCI nation’s ranking and the first ten 2016 UCI Women’s Teams
will be automatically invited to participate in Class 1 events in 2016. These nations are the following: the
Netherlands, USA, Italy, Australia and Great Britain.
