
PASO Assembly
Around the Rings will be on the scene when the Pan American Sports Organization meets in Mexico City, starting March 7. Two days of meetings are the most likely scenario, but the agenda is full enough to potentially take through March 9.
Incumbent president Mario Vazquez Rana is up for reelection. ATRunderstands he could fail to win the required percent of the vote to be reelected, which means PASO would be without a president.
Also on the agenda – other officer elections and the start of bidding for the 2019 Pan American Games.
Istanbul Indoors
Around the Rings will be on the scene in Istanbul for this week’s IAAF World Indoor Championships.
A total of 1,299 athletes and officials from a record 172 countries are expected to compete in what will be the most important event of the 2012 World Athletics Series.
Events run Friday through Sunday at Ataköy Athletics Arena.

Short track speed skating’s world championships runFriday through Sunday in Shanghai, China.
Noh Jin-Kyu and Cho Ha-Ri, both of South Korea, are the men’s and women’s reigning overall champions.
Biathlon World Champs
Biathlon’s world championships continue through Sunday in Ruhpolding, Germany.
The men’s 20km race is scheduled Tuesday with women’s 15km to follow Wednesday, men’s 4x7.5km relay Friday, women’s 4x6km relay Saturday and mass start events Sunday.
