IPC Extends Worldwide Partner -- Sponsor Spotlight

Samsung is a part of the Olympic and Paralympic movement(ATR) The International Paralympic Committee is not changing its communications and computing equipment.

IPC Worldwide Partner Samsung extended its agreement to provide smartphones, tablets, laptops, personal computers, printers and other equipment through 2020.

The agreement includes an extension in Samsung’s partnership category from just wireless provider to include computing equipment after the Rio 2016 Paralympics.

Samsung first became a Worldwide Partner in 2006 at the Torino Winter Paralympics, and the South Korean electronics company is also an Olympic TOP Sponsor. Samsung has been a part of five Paralympic Games as a Worldwide Partner.

"Through various campaigns, Samsung has led the way in engaging the wider public in the day-to-day lives of para-athletes in the lead-up to and during Games time," IPC President Phil Craven said in a statement.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"Samsung and its wireless technology have a long and rich history in delivering unforgettable moments for the last five Paralympic Games."

Atos, Ottobock, Panasonic and Visa are the other Worldwide Partners of the IPC.

Coca Cola Names new Marketing Officer

(ATR) A Spanish Coca-Cola veteran executive will serve as the company`s new chief marketing officer.

On Thursday, the beverage giant announced Marcos de Quinto will replace Joe Tripodi, who is retiring as chief marketing and commercial officer.

De Quinto is the president of the Iberia Business Unit and vice president, Europe Group, having held that position since 2000 after several other positions around the world with Coca-Cola. Tripodi is retiring at the end of February 2015, and de Quinto will take over starting January 1.

"During his tenure, Joe has successfully led our company's worldwide marketing and commercial organization, and played a vital role in building and leveraging our marketing capabilities and talent around the globe," said Muhtar Kent, chairman and CEO of Coca-Cola, in a statement announcing the change.

Rio Adds Security Sponsor

(ATR) Israeli security firm ISDS is the latest Tier 3 sponsor for the Rio 2016 Olympics.

Rio 2016 confirmed that ISDS will provide IT systems and security integration for security planning for the Games. The organizing committee said that the firm won a competition to be the supplier for the category

A Rio 2016 Tier 3 sponsorship tends to run in the range of $10 million, much lower than the $2.2 billion figure reported by Israeli magazine IsraelDefense.

ISDS consulted on security at the 2004 Olympics in Athens, multiple FIFA World Cups, and the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro.

"As seen in the media around the world, the security in Brazil is a challenge," Ron Shafran, vice president of ISDS, told IsraelDefense.

"All teams are working on preparing the sector, from constructing a security concept to constructing the technological systems to be installed in the facilities of the competitions and all the logistical facilities, located in Rio and in four other regions throughout Brazil."

Other Tier 3 sponsors for Rio 2016 include EF Education First, Nielsen, Nike, Manpower Group, and Technogym.
