A tourist information centre has opened at the railway station in Brest in the run-up to the 2nd European Games, head of the tourism sector at the sports and tourism department of the Brest Oblast Executive Committee Denis Nikityuk said.
It will be easy for visitors to find the centre due to additional navigation installed at the railway station. The tourist information centre is located in the ticket office building and will stay open during the entire visa-free period introduced for ticketholders of the 2nd European Games, all the way until 10 July.
The tourist information centre will provide information on accommodation in Brest and other places located on the way to Minsk. It will tell tourists how to get to Minsk, where to eat and to charge their devices. Visitors will be given tourist brochures featuring places of interest in Brest Oblast.
The official mascot of the games – Lesik the Fox – will make the tourist information centre more visible to visitors. Since 10 June when the visa-free regime was introduced for the 2nd European Games ticketholders, Brest welcomed 68 foreigners. Six of them arrived in Belarus by rail. The majority of them were citizens of Poland, Germany and France.
Over 40 excursion programs were developed by local tourist companies for transit tourists.
"First of all these programs feature the areas located not far from the Brest-Minsk highway. Visitors from Ukraine will be offered interesting ethno tours in the territory of Polesie," Denis Nikityuk said.
