(ATR) Former US Olympic and Paralympic Committee vice president for communications Mark Jones starts his own company.
Jones, in announcing the "formal launch" of Agado Communications, says the consulting firm is "founded on the premise that actions, not spin, drive narratives".
After departing the USOPC in February, he decided to work for himself after "reflection and soul-searching" while at home with his wife and daughters during the pandemic.
"I think most people that work in a professional services industry imagine working for themselves at some point, and the bizarre world we're all currently living in oddly provided me just enough space to take a shot," Jones tells Around the Rings.
"It's exciting and a little bit scary all at once, but thanks to a great group of early clients, we're off and running."
He revealed that the National Women’s Soccer League and Major League Lacrosse, both based in the United States, are among the group of initial clients for Agado Communications.
Jones left the USOPC on Feb. 7, saying at the time that helping to tell the stories of the athletes "has been one of the great privileges of my life".
He came to the USOC in 2010 after working on the Chicago bid for the 2016 Olympics as an executive with Hill and Knowlton. He came aboard with fellow colleague from Chicago Patrick Sandusky who left in early 2019 for Madison Square Garden to become vice president of public relations.
