(ATR) The organizing committee for Tokyo 2020 release the official uniforms worn by "Field Cast" and "City Cast" staff and volunteers.
"Field Cast" are volunteers who work on site at competition venues and athletes village, while "City Cast" volunteers will aide tourists and oversee traffic at airports and train stations.
The "cast" staff and volunteers will consist of more than 110,000 people who will welcome and provide assistance to tourists, athletes and other visitors for the games.
"In producing the Field Cast and City Cast uniforms, we have taken account of the potential diversity of wearers, incorporating feedback from volunteers, stylists and various creative individuals. We believe the city of Tokyo will be much enlivened by the presence of over 110,000 volunteers and staff wearing these symbolic and colourful uniforms at venues and around the city before and during the Tokyo 2020 Games. In line with one of our core concepts-Achieving Personal Best—we are looking forward to all staff and volunteers doing their best while wearing the uniforms." said Hiroshi Sato, Tokyo 2020 Vice Director General, in a statement.
The uniforms are in two styles of blue and white to highlight the unity among games staff and volunteers and also city volunteers. The uniforms were selected by a committee with members consisting of Olympian, Paralympian, volunteers in the sport along with experts in various fields.
In order to promote Tokyo 2020’s focus on sustainability, the uniforms are made of recycled polyester and plant material. Also to promote Tokyo 2020’s "unity in diversity" the uniforms incorporate a unisex design allowing staff and volunteer members of all sizes, age, and gender to wear them comfortably.
While the "Field Cast" uniform incorporates subtly overlapping shades of the motifs and colors featuring in the core graphics used by Tokyo 2020, the "City Cast" uniform features a checkered Tokyo 2020 emblem. The dark blue and white pattern design will make volunteers easy to identify by spectators and features its own Tokyo 2020 signature motifs and colors.
The uniform shoes were colored by a unique dyeing process which used a small amount of water.
The uniform along with its accessories were designed and produced in association with ASICS Corporation, Tokyo 2020 official sportswear provider.
