
"Heirloom Hippy" Look for U.S. Snowboarders
Burton says U.S. snowboarders will look like hippies in Sochi.
The ski apparel manufacturer unveiled the team's uniforms on December 4.
"The vintage quilt and flag print of the jacket combined with the corduroy pants give the uniform a ‘heirloom hippy’ vibe,"Greg Dacyshyn, Chief Creative Officer at Burton Snowboards said in a statement.
"It will stand out in Sochi for sure," he added.
Burton has designed the Olympic snowboarding uniforms since 2006.
FIS Announces Logistics Partner
German logistics company Conceptum will handle logistics and operations for all major International Ski Federation (FIS) events.
Conceptum will organize team travel to and from FIS events, as well as the logistics for equipment for all FIS World Cups.
The agreement was signed at the International Federation Forum in Lausanne on November 5, and recommends all 150 national ski federation use Conceptum.
Conceptum will also provide logistics for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.
"Being appointed logistics partner for all categories is acknowledgement of our work over the years" says head of logistics at Conceptum, Sebastian Stahl in a statement.
"For us, the logistics chain does not stop at the airport, but at the slopes."
Japanese NOC Partnership
The Japanese National Olympic Committee signed an agreement with the Panamanian NOC to strengthen each NOC's anti-doping measures and improve cooperation in the "sponsorship market."
Japan and Panama will also exchange coaches to help develop athletes in each country.
This is the 30th bilateral deal that the Japanese NOC has completed since 2000.
"I am sure that the sporting communities of both Panama and Japan will have many ideas and opinions to exchange and much to learn from one another in the coming years.", Japanese Olympic Committee president Tsunekazu Takeda said in a statement.
Samsung Announces Italian "Team Galaxy"
Five Italian Athletes will be sponsored by Samsung as part of it's "Team Galaxy" for the Sochi Olympics.
Slider Armin Zöggeler, skiiers Christof Innerhofer Melania Corradini, short-track speed skater Arianna Fontana, and snowboarder Omar Visintin were announced as the sponsored athletes at a press conference in Milan.
The conference was attended by Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI) PresidentGiovanni Malagò and the President of Samsung Italy Myung Sung Wan.
Samsung is a TOP Olympic Sponsor as well as a partner of CONI.
