The highly anticipated arrival of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games ™ (GC2018) Mascot will take place at a community celebration on Burleigh Heads Beach, off Goodwin Terrace, THIS Monday morning 4 April – two years to the day until the GC2018 Opening Ceremony.
The event will feature a live broadcast from Seven's Sunrise and attendance by a large number of high profile athletes and dignitaries, stage performances by popular Queensland duo Busby Marou and singer and actor Samantha Jade and a number of fun public participation sports events.
This occasion will be the very first public appearance of the mascot – GC2018’s leading personality in the run up to and during the April 4-15 2018 Games.
WHAT:
Official arrival of GC2018 Mascot and Two Years to Go Celebrations
WHEN:
6:00am – 9:00am – community activation on beach – various activities
7:30am (approx.) – arrival of GC2018 Mascot on beach
7:50am – on stage performance by Samantha Jade
8:15am – on stage GC2018 Mascot performance, featuring Busby Marou
8:20am – on stage introduction of GC2018 Mascot Design Competition winner
8:35am – inflation of mascot ‘wordmark’ sign
8:40am – media call with GC2018 Mascot and dignitaries
WHERE:
Burleigh Heads Beach, Goodwin Terrace, Burleigh Heads.
(*8:40am media call on the boardwalk on the south eastern side of the Burleigh Heads Surf Life Saving Club).
