Getty Images, the world leader in visual communications, announced today it has renewed its agreement to serve exclusively as the Official Photographic Agency of the United States Olympic Committee. As part of a comprehensive and world-class service, Getty Images’ award-winning photographers will continue to cover Team USA athletes as they prepare, train and compete at the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in PyeongChang, South Korea, and the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Tokyo, Japan. Through the terms of the agreement, Getty Images will hold the commercial rights for the licensing of Team USA photography to sponsors and licensees of the USOC.
"Getty Images has been a proud partner to the USOC for over 25 years and we are honored to continue providing our best-in-class coverage through 2020," said Janey Marks, Senior Director of Olympic Programs and Strategic Alliances for Getty Images. "With an elite roster of specialist and award-winning sport photographers and an unrivalled heritage of capturing the Olympic and Paralympic Games, we are excited to further build on a proud history of service and deliver more iconic images as the official Photographic Agency of the USOC."
In addition to its relationship with the USOC, Getty Images serves as the Official Photographic Agency of the International Olympic Committee. Its archive contains some of the most notable Olympic photographs, dating from the 1896 Olympic Games in Athens to the most recent 2014 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in Sochi. Getty Images is also the Official Photographic Agency of the International Paralympic Committee.
"For more than 25 years, Getty Images has played a significant role in visually sharing the stories of U.S. Olympic and Paralympic athletes, and the USOC is very pleased to extend its relationship with Getty Images through 2020," said Peter Zeytoonjian, USOC managing director of marketing.
More than a century of iconic Olympic and Paralympic imagery can be viewed on Getty Images’ dedicated Olympic website, gettyimages.com/Olympics and gettyimages.com/Paralympics.
