Today, at the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) General Assembly, Boxing was represented by Gafur Rahimov, AIBA Interim President, who took this opportunity to meet with several Asian NOC leaders, IF representatives and IOC members, including among others, NOC representatives from India, Bangladesh, Turkmenistan, Pakistan, Uzbekistan and Indonesia.
Mr. Rahimov stressed the importance of these meetings, which aim to establish strong ties among all sporting nations in Asia. Establishing a strong foundation with stakeholders will create long-term benefits for boxing both in terms of development and growth opportunities throughout the continent. The promotion of boxing in the region and potential future collaboration were at the heart of the discussions.
Gafur Rahimov, AIBA Interim President said: "It has been a great honour to meet with key stakeholders of the Olympic Movement and share AIBA’s ambitions with them. Ensuring the development of our sport, especially in such an important region, is an absolute priority for our organisation."
The 37th OCA General assembly was presided by Sheikh Ahmad al-Fahad Al-Sabah and was attended by all its 45 NOC members.
